"Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it." Lloyd Alexander

Is your desk as messy as mine? From my post-it wall of ideas to the endless notes on my cell phone, there’s always something I’m working on.

Short Stories, Books, & Essays

I like to say I’m too verbose for short works. But hey, that’s what practice is for. After my flash fiction piece ‘The Grove Keeper’ was published in Arkana, that excuse withered away, and now I’ve built short work into my weekly writing schedule.

  • Food Nonfiction—One of my goals is to transform the food knowledge I have gained from my blog, The Flour Handprint, into something I can utilize in more creative ways. This is a big area of exploration, and I’m excited to see what food stories will be meaningful to tell.
  • Resource inspired speculative solarpunk (mostly) – Things like clean air, clean power, and healthy reciprocal resource management are things I wonder about and have inspired many short stories lately.
  • Place – Essays about California, both grief and love, are an area of exploration for now.
  • Book #1 – I have no title, no summary to share, but my first book of what I hope will be a 5-book eco-fantasy series is well underway.
